Abigail Breslin reveals that she has survived domestic violence

Abigail Breslin has revealed that she survived the domestic violence and was seeing the perpetrator who beat her and ordered her to conceal her injuries for two years.
“As a DV survivor, I felt compelled to write a bit about my story. I have been in a very aggressive relationship for nearly 2 years, “Breslin, 26, wrote in a statement posted on her Instagram on Friday with a trigger warning.
The “Little Miss Sunshine” star, who shared her experience to celebrate Domestic Violence Awareness Month, explained that the relationship started “perfect” and was “so in love”, but her tormentor took advantage of her “innocence and naivety.” before things took a turn for the worse.
“I was regularly beaten, locked in my rooms and made to pretend everything was fine and normal, while dealing with severe injuries … injuries most people hadn’t even seen,” wrote Breslin, who did not mention her name. perpetrators.
Breslin said she would use concealer and foundation to cover up the bruises because she wanted to protect her perpetrator, saying “in some ways I still cared about this person.”
But the harassment was not only physical as her abuser was also manipulating emotionally.
“There was also a lot of humiliation, embarrassment, and harsh verbal abuse from the physical injuries,” she said. “I felt so unworthy of anyone’s love. I felt ugly and hated. I felt I deserved less than dirt. I was sure there must be something wrong with me. ”
The actress said that the two years she was dating her tormentor was the time when she felt the loneliest and thanked her family and friends who had helped her get out of the “terrible” relationship.
“I will be forever grateful to my loved ones for not only helping me, but also believing me,” said Breslin.
She also said that her complex PTSD is “much better” than 2 to 3 years after her aggressive relationship, but she still has “moments”.
“I still have nightmares from time to time, and certain things still set me free,” she wrote, adding, “I heal.”
She ended her post by telling her fans that if they are in an abusive relationship, “They CAN get out of it.”
“I know it seems impossible and scary, but you’ve been through so much and you CAN survive the death if you have the right tools and support.”
Fortunately, Breslin said she is now in a “wonderful, healthy, happy and amazing relationship with her fiancé Ira Kunyansky.
Breslin reported that she and Kunyansky got engaged in February. It is unclear how long they dated, but she did the first to share a photo him back in November 2017.
