Adele begins her rescheduled Vegas residency

Hello Vegas!

Adele has finally started her Las Vegas residency after being abruptly postponed in January.

On Friday night, the 34-year-old Grammy Award winner took to the stage at the Colosseum at the Caesar Palace in front of a crowd of more than 4,000 people, including her son, 10-year-old Angelo, and boyfriend Rich Paul.

“Thank you so much for coming back to me,” she told the audience, according to the Guardian. “Looks just like I imagined.”

Adele sang many of her hits, including “Easy on Me”, “Skyfall”, “Rolling in the Deep” and “Rumour Has It”. She even got a little romantic during the performance by embracing Paul while singing “When We Were Young”.

Five years after her last concert, the British-born performer broke down in tears several times during her performance, expressing her gratitude to her fans.

Months later, while appearing on a British radio show, she explained that she felt compelled to cancel because the show simply did not fit the bill.

“I definitely felt everyone’s disappointment and I was devastated and I was afraid of letting them down and I thought I could pull it together and make it work but I couldn’t and I stand by that decision,” she said, adding that she refused to back down.

“You can’t buy me, you can’t buy me for nothing,” she continued. “I’m not going to do a show just because I have to, or because people will be disappointed, or because we’re going to lose a lot of money. I’m thinking to myself, “the show isn’t good enough.”

During Friday’s concert, Adele addressed the backlash by hailing Caesar’s Palace for her return.

“I would really like to thank Caesars because a lot of shit has been written about me since I canceled my shows,” she said.

“I’m telling you 90 percent of it is completely made up – there are rumors that I’m moving hotels, moving theaters and all that, and not once have they asked any questions.”

The day before the Oscar winner’s maiden performance in Vegas revealed on social media that she was “incredibly nervous”.

“As I write this, I feel different things. I’m very emotional, incredibly nervous, but I can’t sit still because I’m so excited. I feel a million miles from home, can’t stop thinking about when I was little and I saw Tom Jones in Mars Attacks and thought how the hell did he get from Wales to Las Vegas!?

“I always get scared before performing and I take that as a good sign because it means I care and just want to do a good job. Maybe because I didn’t start when I should have. Maybe because it’s opening night, maybe because Hyde Park was so great, maybe because I love the show, I don’t know.

“But it’s safe to say that I’ve never been more nervous before a concert in my career, but at the same time, I wish today was tomorrow! Can’t wait to see you there x”

“Weekends with Adele” will last until March 25, 2023.
