Al Roker leaves the hospital after missing the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade
Al Roker is “very grateful” to be home for Thanksgiving with his family.
The Today meteorologist shared a health update with fans via social media on Thursday after missing the Macy’s Thanksgiving parade for the first time in 27 years.
Happy Rocker, 68, posted his video in comfortable clothes, walking through the hospital corridors.
“Alright, this is my version of a Thanksgiving parade,” he said. “Preparing to leave the hospital. Time to blow up that taco stand. Woohoo!
The weather presenter later informed fans that he arrived home just in time to catch some parade commentary from ‘Today’ colleagues Savannah Guthrie and Hody Kotb.
“I’m so #grateful to be home for #thanksgiving#dinner with my family,” he said wrote in another post shared via Instagram.
Plenty of celebrities and other TV personalities took to the comment section under Roker’s various posts to send him love and support.
“Oh Al! Happy Thanksgiving! ❤️❤️,” Katie Couric wrote, while Jenna Bush Hager added: “Yasss!! Now especially thank you!!! And all those doctors and nurses who took care of our beloved! ❤️.”
Barbara Ann Corcoran also chimed in, writing: “Sending you all my love! Happy Thanksgiving ❤️❤️❤️.”
As previously reported by Page Six, Roker missed the annual New York television parade this year due to ongoing health issues, and was replaced by meteorologist Dylan Dreyer.
“So many of you thoughtfully asked where I was.” – Roker he wrote in an Instagram post on November 18 amidst growing concern over his absence from the “Today” show.
“Last week I was admitted to hospital with a blood clot in my leg which sent several clots to my lungs. After some medical whack on a mole, I’m lucky to be receiving excellent medical care and on my way to recovery.”
Roker ended his post by thanking fans for “all the wishes” and prayers.
“Hope to see you soon,” he added. “Wish you all a nice weekend.”
