Ally McBeal Sequel Series Will Center on New Young Lawyer

An Ellie McBeal According to multiple reports, ABC is working on a sequel to the series. However, there will not necessarily be new series Calista Flockharttitled attorney. Deadline reports that the series will center on a new lead character who is a recent law school graduate and the daughter of Prosecutor McBeal’s roommate, Renee Reddick (Lisa Nicole Carson). Daughter Renee will join the same law firm that McBeal belonged to in the original series, paving the way for a potential appearance in Flockhart.

That being said, it is understood that Flockhart was not involved in the project, which is in the early stages of development.

The new show will be written and executive produced Karin Histwho wrote further girlfriends, House of Lies and, most recently, Hulu Mike. Creator of the series David E. Kelly but does not participate in new series Deadline noted that he gave his blessing to it.

Ellie McBeal ran for five seasons from 1997 to 2002 and starred Flockhart, Greg Hermann, Gil Bellows, Jane Krakowski, Lucy Liu, Portia de Rossi and more.
