Anna Nicole Smith’s daughter Dannielynn attends the Kentucky Derby with her dad Larry
It’s a day off from dad and daughter.
The late Anna Nicole Smith’s look-alike teenage daughter, Dannielynn Birkhead, attended the 150th Kentucky Derby with her dad, Larry Birkhead, on Saturday.
The 51-year-old photographer shared a carousel of photos on Instagram of the 17-year-old, who wore a red ruffled floor-length dress and a floral hat in honor of their outing to the races.
“On my way to @kentuckyderby with Dannielynn after a great evening at the Barnstable-Brown Gala and a few quick morning haircuts,” he said he signed the post.
“Dannielynn’s dress was inspired by her favorite Hino Eiji character, the Kamen Rider OOO TaJaDor combo – she told me to write it 😆 – because that character had the same shoulders as the dress design she found! 🤷♂️,” Larry added.
“Hey, whatever works, I’m just trying to spend some time as this weekend of traditions comes to an end.”
Larry looked dapper during the derby, wearing a gray suit, white button-down shirt and black dress shoes.
Dannielynn and her father attend the Kentucky Derby and Barnstable-Brown Gala every year.
At last year’s gala, Larry said he had met Smith at the same event 20 years earlier.
The couple welcomed Dannielynn in September 2006. (Smith initially claimed that her lawyer and romantic partner, Howard K. Stern, was her daughter’s father, but Larry denied this claim and requested a DNA test.)
Unfortunately, a former Playboy model died of a drug overdose in February 2007, when her daughter was only 5 months old. Smith was 39 years old.
From then on, Larry raised Dannielynn as a single father.
Last September, the real estate agent shared rare photos to celebrate his daughter’s 17th birthday.
“Wishing you the best day ever!” he wrote then. “You’re funny, crazy smart, pretty, and almost everything I could imagine.”
Larry said Smith “would be very proud” of Dannielynn.
