The Voice in 2014
Wallen participated in Season 6 of The Voice in 2014, first on Usher’s team and then on Adam Levine’s team. He was dismissed during the postseason.
2015: Stand Alone EP at Panacea Records
Wallen began working with Atom Smash’s Sergio Sanchez while in California for his appearance on The Voice. Wallen met Bill Ray and Paul Trust of Panacea Records thanks to Sanchez. Dominic Frost played guitar with Wallen when he signed to Panacea Records in 2015. On August 24, 2015, the EP Stand Alone was published. Wallen co-wrote the song “Preachin’ to the Choir” by A Thousand Horses, released his first single “The Way I Talk” in 2016, and joined Florida Georgia Line on their Dig Your Roots Tour in 2017. In In April 2017, Wallen released the music video for “The Way I Talk.” Along with Tyler Hubbard, Brian Kelley, and Jordan Schmidt of Florida Georgia Line, Wallen wrote the Jason Aldean song “You Make It Easy” in 2017.
If I Know Me, Wallen’s debut album, was released on April 27, 2018, and its second single, “Up Down,” co-written and co-performed by Florida Georgia Line, reached its highest position on Billboard’s No. 16[22]. Until 2020: Dangerous
The lead track from Wallen’s upcoming second studio album, “More Than My Hometown,” was made available to country radio on May 27, 2020. Wallen’s song “7 Summers,” which was published on August 14, was set a new record for the number of first-day streams for a country song on Apple Music. It debuted and peaked at number six on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, giving him his first top 10 position. Additionally, Time chose the song as one of the top songs of 2020. In a hidden Easter egg in the music video for “7 Summers,” Wallen announced on November 11 that his second album, Dangerous: The Double Album , will be a double album with a release date of January 8, 2021.
The Double Album by Dangerous: debuted at the top of the US Billboard 200 and Canadian Albums Chart. It would hold that position for four weeks in Canada and six weeks in the US, making it the first new album by a country artist to do so since Garth Brooks’ The Chase in 1992. On “Wasted on You,” “More Than My Hometown,” “Somebody’s Problem,” “7 Summers,” “Sand in My Boots,” and “Warning,” Wallen became the first artist to chart six songs in the Hot Country Songs top 10 at the same time in the week following his album’s release.Wallen also charted 23 tracks from the album on the Canadian Hot 100 and 19 tracks on the HITS Country Chart.
Wallen was still incredibly well-liked at the end of the early February racist insult episode. The week after the riot, Dangerous album sales increased. Sales of physical and digital albums increased by nearly 100% in certain cases in the week following the incident. Dangerous continues to top the Billboard 200 chart for the week of February 13, 2021, while Wallen’s debut album If I Know Me makes its first top 10 appearance despite the controversy.
