Arden Cho knows a thing or two about climbing stairs.

In new Netflix seriesPartner trackwhich premiered on August 26, Cho stars as Ingrid, a smart and determined lawyer trying to make a name for herself at one of New York’s most competitive law firms while being constantly passed over by her white male colleagues.

This struggle, unfortunately, is well known to Arden.

“When I’m standing there as Ingrid doing these scenes, I’m so often thinking, ‘Oh, I know that feeling,'” Arden exclusively told E! News. “I may never have been mistaken for a paralegal, but I was definitely mistaken for someone I wasn’t.”

She continued: “I’ve been mistaken for, ‘Oh, the background is here,’ and I’m like, ‘Oh, I’m a series regular.’

In May, Arden spoke about her decision to turn down the role in the upcoming film Teenage wolf in the revival at Paramount+ after learning she was making half of what her co-stars were making per episode for three seasons playing the lead character on the MTV show.

But in Partner track, Arden front and center. For her, the show wasn’t just about visibility, it was generally about moving the needle toward more progressive forms of visibility.
