Barbie Ferreira leaves “Euphoria” ahead of season 3
Barbie Ferreira announced on Wednesday that she would not be returning in season three of “Euphoria” to play the iconic Kat Hernandez.
“After four years of playing the most unique and enigmatic character Kat, I have to say goodbye to tears,” said the 25-year-old actress in an emotional Instagram post. “I hope many of you saw yourself in her as I did, and that it brought you joy to see her journey into what she is today.”
She ended the ad by telling fans that she had put all her “care and love” into her character, a big-size high school girl who is trying to get into her own.
Along with the news, the model shared a drawing of her character’s alter ego with a camera, created by co-star Hunter Schafer, who plays Jules Vaughn on the show.
Following the announcement of her departure, many fans of the popular HBO series took advantage of Ferreira’s latest Instagram post to express their sorrow.
“BARBIE PLSSS NOOO 🥺🥺🥺🥺 KAT WAS SO AWESOME TO DESERVE BETTER AND YOU WERE ALSO :(” commented one of the fans.
“Don’t give up on gurls [sic] we love you the most !!!! ”pleaded another.
Others were less shocked by the news considering how Ferreira’s character was seemingly sidelined during the show’s season two.
“I know it probably wasn’t an easy decision, but it seems so toxic. I’m glad you left, ”one fan chimed in, adding,“ You are an amazing actor and deserve to be treated properly. There are many amazing projects waiting for you💗. “
The model’s character was reportedly cut from portions of the show after rumors swirled around Ferreira and the show’s producer Sam Levinson got into a heated argument on set.
Whatever the reasoning that is, we’re sorry to hear Kat is shutting down her webcam for good.
