Ashley Tropez, who appeared on A&E “Beyond Scared Straight,” died at the age of 24.
On August 26, deputies from the Victorville Police Department responded to reports of a deceased person in an abandoned house in Victorville, California, according to a San Bernardino Department press release obtained by Page Six.
When they arrived, authorities discovered a former reality TV star with “traumatic injuries.”
Following a homicide investigation, authorities identified Alexis Call as a potential suspect. Investigators claim that Call and Tropez knew each other and “crouched” at home.
While it’s still unclear how Tropez died, Call is being held at the High Desert Detention Center. She has since been charged with murder after appearing in court on Tuesday.
When she was just 17, Tropez was inducted into the Emmy-nominated series, the last episode of which took place in 2015, to help put her on a better path.
She joined the show for allegedly “fighting, getting in trouble and selling marijuana” as well as identifying as a gang member.
The series provided “programs for troubled teens in which inmates reveal the realities of prison life in the hope of deterring them from criminal life,” as described in the series.
Despite the harsh realities she faced on the show in 2011, Tropez recounted her experience a year later and said that it didn’t change anything for her.
“I’m still the same person,” Tropez had said at the time. “I’m just everywhere, from friends to family homes. I’m just resting.
