Carson Daly recalls a terrible time in music history.

After the release of the Netflix documentary Railroad accident: Woodstock ’99Carson recalled what it was like to host MTV General inquiry in real time at Woodstock Festival ’99.

“All I can say is that I thought I was going to die,” he wrote in his letter Instagram post from August 11.

Carson, 49, said it all “started off great” as he interviewed such artists Jay Kay the band Jamiroquai from the side of the main stage. But then they “began to throw bottles, stones, lighters, all this,” he recalled.

According to Perekotifieldthe event, which was an ode to the original Woodstock festival in 1969, drew more than 200,000 people to New York and ended in riots, violence, allegations of sexual assault and a fire started by festival-goers.

“It got crazy, fast,” Carson continued. “The night is coming, limping “Break Stuff” is playing and the inmates have officially run the prison.”

He explained that during the riots, he “remembers how he felt in another country during a military conflict.”
