Goodbye Plot/Storyline
The story of Goodbye revolves around the relationship between a father and a daughter who are often very different in their views, personalities and behaviors. Her mother, Gayatri, portrayed by Neena Gupta, is the only thing that can successfully keep her on common ground. She is the only thing that can successfully bring them together. When Gayatri dies, however, everything changes drastically because she takes the common thread of continuity with her.
As Gayatri’s family processes the loss, they make preparations for the rituals that will be performed at her funeral. Everyone comes to the final rituals and ceremonies in their own individual state of hectic preparation. In the narrative there is a son who married a foreign woman and cares more about her mother than the rituals and ceremonies associated with the rites. His odd behavior in the midst of grief often inspires comedic relief, which is then followed by a reprimand from his father.
Moreover, Rashmika Mandanna, who plays the role of Gayatri’s daughter, also shares the same view. She believes that her mother should be given the right to choose the manner and timing of her parting. What’s more, her claims are promptly refuted by her father, played by Amitabh Bachchan.
Her father believes that the last rites and rituals are something precious that should not be tampered with. According to him, it is not a birthday party where the participants could choose the theme. For this reason, he desires a respectful and customary farewell from his wife before she embarks on her journey into eternity.
Meanwhile, Sunil Grover (Boss, Bharat), who also has a prominent role in the film, plays a central role. In the film, he portrays a self-appointed messenger of God who will control all rituals. Tara may have experienced a paradigm shift due to his character and now understands the importance of culture and values more than before. along with the associated feelings.
