Chanel Ayan’s “trauma” is not an “excuse” for “bad” behavior
Real Housewives of Dubai star Sara Al Madani believes Chanel Ayan’s partner is using her past “traumas” to justify her “bad” behavior.
In Wednesday’s episode of Bravo, Ayan – who is of Somali and Ethiopian origin – revealed that she was forced to have genital mutilation at the age of 5.
She later called Al Madani – who has an honorary doctorate in leadership in business management and women’s empowerment – “full of herself” after the latter said to the former, “It’s never too late to be like me.”
This remark “shocked” a native of the United Arab Emirates who … told us a week on Thursday that her statement was preceded by an off-camera compliment from Ayan saying, “I love the way you talk and would like to be like you one day, but it’s too late.”
Al Madani, 36, said in the newspaper: “To take this story and become a victim? I mean, we’ve all been traumatized in our lives, but that’s no excuse for us to treat people any way or behave in a certain way.
“Because maturity is figuring out what your problems are, solving them, and helping yourself,” she continued. “It’s not treating people badly and saying,” Hey, I was traumatized. “
The single mother of one of them added that she felt she had “crossed the river” for a 44-year-old model who she believes would “not even walk through a puddle” in return.
“For Ayan, I was the shoulder to cry on, I was the person she called for advice … I did so much for Ayan,” she said. “I’ve always been with her and got her back. So I felt we were building a friendship.
“And then when I was watching the show, I thought,” Hang on, this is crazy! I don’t preach. You are calling me [for advice]. You have a demand, and I deliver to you. Why I don’t advise Nina [Ali] or Les [Milan] at the show? This is because they never came to me for advice. You did. [Caroline] Brooks did it. “
