Christina Applegate prepares for the first event since her diagnosis of MS
Christina Applegate is gearing up for her first major public appearance since being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis last year.
50-year-old actress took on twitter on Thursday to share a photo of the canes he plans to use at the party.
“A very important ceremony is coming up,” she wrote as she snapped off five different canes.
“This will be my first time since being diagnosed with MS. Canes are now part of my new standard. ” she continued telling fans to “stay tuned to see which ones will make the cut for the week.”
The Dead to Me star announced that she was diagnosed with an often disabling disease last August.
“Hello friends. I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis a few months ago. It was a strange journey. But I was so supported by people that I know who also has the disease,” Applegate wrote on Twitter at the time.
“It was a difficult road. But as we all know, the road continues. Unless some hole blocks it.
She continued, “As one friend of mine who has multiple sclerosis said, ‘we wake up and take the appropriate action.’ And that’s what I do. So now I ask for privacy. When i go through this Thank you xo.
Since then, Applegate has stepped back a step away from the spotlight, occasionally revisiting social media to inform fans of updates.
On her 50th birthday in November last year, the actress reflected on her new normality and the challenges that came with it.
“Yes. Today I am 50 years old. And I have multiple sclerosis,” wrote the actress. “It was difficult. I am sending so much love to all of you today.”
“Many are suffering today and I think about you,” she continued. “May we find the strength to raise our heads. Mine is currently lying on my pillow. But I will try.”
Although Applegate tries to find strength at times, she can rely on her partner in “The Sweetest Thing” Selma Blair – who was diagnosed with the same condition in 2018.
After her diagnosis, Blair contacted Applegate to inform her that she was “always here”.
Applegate has been married to Dutch bassist Martyna LeNoble since 2013, and the couple have an 11-year-old daughter, Sadie.
