Imani Ellis has created a safe space for young professionals and creatives to learn and grow in their industries.

“I think for me, I was looking for community,” Ellis tells PEOPLE. “I had a process that I cherish, however I was trying to find where I wanted to speak approximately all the different elements of my existence, so I invited 10 friends and I cooked for them.”
As the daughter of preachers, she loved attending bible studies throughout her life and being part of comforting and safe places. And through his profession working in publicity, he developed a natural passion for communicating with others. He resents these experiences in his NYC Home — with a trap for his friends before they arrive for the get-together.
“The best rule for this invitation was that they had to bring someone they could attest to,” he said.
“It was supposed to be a one-time thing, but by the time it stopped, everyone was like, ‘Great, when’s the next one?’ ” This revelry provided the framework for Ellis to not best create CultureCon, however, also observed Creative Collective NYC, a community of specialists dedicated to building bold spaces for Black and Brown creatives .
Ellis and TheCCnyc are hosting CultureCon considering that 2017 has the primary task of helping people in the community live clearly.
“We almost invite young specialists and creatives to come back and be curious to satisfy different people [and] to study different industries,” he said. “It’s fueled by authenticity; while you’re right, it takes the stress out of networking because you’re not thinking about what I’m going to get out of the character. What’s more, if I just show up as myself and they show up as themselves, what magic we can create together.”
CultureCon New York is the final leg of the summit’s three-city excursion, the first two of which were in Atlanta and Los Angeles earlier this year. The New York City convention includes CultureCon Week from October 2 to 7 with special events and appearances from Dwyane Wade, Jidenna, Marcus Samuelsson, Smino, Nana Kwabena and Dawn Davis.
CultureCon Week will lead to CultureCon New York on Oct. Eight, welcoming the likes of Taraji P. Henson, Lena Waithe and Angie Martinez to the Duggal Greenhouse in Brooklyn for a day full of conversations, activities and activations from sponsors. Attendees of this final day of the cultural powerhouse event will be able to take part in a variety of stories, including shopping a small enterprise marketplace — powered with the help of Cash App and Square — and attending development workshops. of ability.
The event is in the middle of the Culture Stage, where sponsors including HBO Max, Netflix, Google and Prime Video will fuel conversations where “you can get inspirational gem stones and conversations that driving the subculture,” Ellis said. Here, you can pay attention to various celebrities who attended the event, such as Tracee Ellis Ross, Meagan Good, Elaine Welteroth, Kendrick Sampson, Kenya Barris, Terrence J, Lexi Underwood, Phoebe Robinson, Kalen Allen and Winston Duke, and expand your community that way with different creatives.
“If you’ve never been, it’s like you’ve been because it’s a celebration of fun and freedom and you’re not held back by your title,” Ellis said.
