Principal photography for the first episode of the series began in July 2020 and ended in September of the same year; however, the second season was shot from May to August 2021. Metro Vancouver, British Columbia

Most of the important scenes in ‘Family Law’ were shot in the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area, with Vancouver as its main city. The filmmakers decided to shoot on location in downtown Vancouver because the legal practice where the events of the film take place is located there. This decision was made to make the photos look more authentic. In addition, the house that Abigail lives in during the series is played by a private residence located in the district of Kerrisdale.

False Creek is a short, narrow waterway that divides the city’s Downtown and West End neighborhoods, and is where several episodes from season 2 were filmed. “Family Law” Series: Production

Corus Entertainment made the announcement on December 20, 2019 that the series created by Susin Nielsen for SEVEN24 Films and Lark Productions has been given a series order for ten episodes and will air in 2019. The sitcom will be both produced and will be set in Vancouver, located in the province of British Columbia. Tom Cox, Jordy Randall, and Erin Haskett will serve as executive producers.

It was stated in February of 2020 that principal photography would begin on March 2 of the same year. It turns out that the main cast members are all from Canada; their names are Jewel Staite, Victor Garber, Zach Smadu, and Genelle Williams respectively.

In May 2021, before the first episode of the series aired, Global made the announcement that it had renewed the show for a second season.

On May 17, 2022, Global made the announcement that it would produce a third season, which would also consist of ten episodes.
