For one night, the Kia Forum in Los Angeles became the epicenter of rock and roll Dave Grohl gathered his friends to once again honor the deceased Taylor Hawkins in an epic six-hour celebration.

On Sept. 27, Grohl took the stage to open the show with a tribute to the California native, who was found dead in a Columbia hotel room in March. “It’s a goddamn hometown so you gotta make it loud and pump it up” – said the emotional rockernoting Hawkins’ ability to “make you fucking smile and dance and laugh and sing.”

“We really wanted to pay tribute to Taylor in a way that you could kind of spend time in his musical mind,” he added, “which can actually be a pretty scary place.”

So he raised quite a few to honor Hawkins’ legacy.

Joan Jett and Travis Barker of Blink 182 performed the songs “Cherry Bomb” and “Bad Reputation”, Miley Cyrus went note to note with Joe Elliott of Def Leppard on “Photography” and Pink joined, if we’re highlighting other bands, let’s highlight Queen Queen Brian May and Roger Taylor fronting “Somebody to Love,” a song Hawkins often performed at Foo Fighters concerts.
