When Ducky decides to leave NCIS for good, Gibbs is sure to make a special appearance to help celebrate. Since Ducky and Gibbs have known each other for a long time, it would make sense that Ducky would have the same perfect legacy in the show as Gibbs.

Early years

McCallum was born on September 19, 1933 in Maryhill, Glasgow. He was the second of two sons born to cellist Dorothy (née Dorman) and violinist David McCallum Sr. His family moved to London when he was three because his father was the leader of the London Philharmonic Orchestra. At the start of the Second World War he was sent back to Scotland and lived with his mother in Gartocharn near Loch Lomond.

McCallum was awarded a scholarship to University College School, a private boys’ school in Hampstead, London. There he played the oboe because his parents wanted him to get ready for a career in music. He started in 1946 with boy voices for the BBC radio repertory.
