Emily Ratajkowski calls out Marilyn Monroe biopic directed by Andrew Dominik “Blonde” accusing the film of “fetishizing female pain.”
Model took to TikTok on Friday about the movie starring Ana de Armas, which she has not yet seen.
“I’m not surprised to hear that this is another movie that fetishes female pain, even after death,” said the 31-year-old actress.
Citing the collective fascination with Amy Winehouse, Britney Spears and the death of Princess Diana as an example, Ratajkowski stated that as a society “we love to fetishize female pain … We are obsessed with dead girls and serial killers.”
The author of “My Body” also confessed that “as women – I mean, I can say for sure – but I have learned to fetish my own pain and suffering in my life.”
She explained that her problems “seem something to be dealt with”, calling it “a little sexy” being a “fucking girl”.
Ratajkowski noted: “I think we do it in many, many different ways. But I want this to change.
“So I have a suggestion. I think we all need to be a little more pissed off, continued the star of Gone Girl. “2022, baby, this is my bitch era. I think we should all be in our age of bitches. “
Ratajkowski said he plans to “piss off” when he watches a film based on Joyce Carol Oates’ semi-fictional biography of the same title, calling the mood “nothing new.”
“I’m just going to get angry,” she concluded.
The day before Ratajkowski was released on social media, Courtney Stodden told Page Six that they would boycott the film.
“I won’t watch,” said the 28-year-old singer on Thursday. “As someone who understands what it’s like to be sexually abused and then makes people make a joke of you when you’re not a joke, I think it’s a little disrespectful to dive into it.”
Stodden urged others not to “please” see the movie, adding, “This is not Marilyn Monroe, this is not her story. It is fictionalized and is meant to make her someone she wasn’t. She never wanted to be the girl they paint her for.
“Blonde” has been criticized since its premiere on September 16, and many reviews strike the narrative for portraying the iconic actress in a simplified, overly sexual light.
