Emma Seligman is a Canadian screenwriter and film director. She got fame due to her short film Shiva Baby, a comedy film based on bisexuality and cultural conflicts. In 2018, Shiva Baby was premiered at the South by Southwest Film Festival, and it won the Best US Screenwriting award in Toronto International Film Festival and OutFest LA. Emma became one of the Filmmaker Mag’s 25 New Faces of Independent Film’s. In 2020, she was named one of Variety’s 10 Screenwriters to Watch. She started contributing to the entertainment industry during her teenage days, she wrote film reviews in The Huffington Post.

Emma Seligman was born to her parents on May 3, 1995, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. At a young age, she attended a small art school in her hometown locality. She decided to study liberal arts to peruse graduation and took admitted at the Tisch School of The Arts, New York City. Emma completed her graduation in May 2017 from Stonestreet Studios of the Tisch, where she studied films.
She is a bisexual person who lives in Los Angeles in 2021. She from a Jewish family and was brought up in a Reform Ashkenazi community in Toronto.
Emma has her Bat Mitzvah ceremony (coming-of-age ritual for Jewish girls) during a two-week bat mitzvah trip on Masada in Israel. Her family also enjoys a small party at the hip hotel in downtown Toronto.
