Euphoria’s Barbie Ferreira Exits the Series Ahead of Season 3

Kat closed her cell forever.

August 24th Barbie Ferreira announced that she would not return Euphoriathird season on HBO.

“After four years of embodying the most unique and enigmatic character Kat, I have to say goodbye with tears in my eyes,” she wrote in an Instagram Story featuring fan art of her character’s alter ego. “I hope that many of you could see yourself in her as I did, and that she brought you joy in seeing her journey to the character she is today.”

Before signing off, Ferreira said she had put all her “care and love” into it and hoped fans would “feel it”.

Ferreira first debuted as Kat, a plus-size high school student who yearns to feel empowered by her body in the age of technology, in the show’s first season Euphoria in 2019. Although her path to narcissism was a highlight of the first season, Kat’s character in the second season included lying about a terminal illness so she could break up with her overly cute boyfriend Ethan (Austin Abrams) was dim.
