Every ‘Bachelor,’ ‘Bachelorette’ and ‘BiP’ engagement ring ever
[ad_1]
“The Bachelor” might be known for drama, tears and plenty of red roses, but the franchise — which includes spinoffs “The Bachelorette” and “Bachelor in Paradise” — has also treated fans to plenty of memorable proposals over the years.
And with every proposal comes a stunning engagement ring, most frequently made special by designer jeweler Neil Lane.
While Lane has almost become a member of the cast thanks to his frequent appearances on the “Bachelor” franchise shows, it wasn’t always that way — with couples from the earlier seasons going with rings from designers like Tacori, Chopard and even Harry Winston.
“When I’m dealing with these guys, it’s the most emotional thing in their lives,” Lane told Page Six Style in 2021 about helping would-be fiancés find the perfect ring.
“They’re the most vulnerable. And they’re looking to me for direction; most of them have never looked at rings before.”
While only a few of the shows’ couples are actually still together, we’re taking a ride back through Bachelor Nation history to look at every engagement ring that’s been given on the franchise.
See the bling through the years, below.
Season 2: Aaron Buerge and Helene Eksterowicz
While the first-ever “Bachelor,” Alex Michel, decided not to propose at the end of the experiment, Season 2 of “The Bachelor” saw the franchise’s first-ever proposal, with Aaron Buerge popping the question to Helene Eksterowicz in the November 2002 finale. The reality star presented her with a 2-carat diamond on a yellow gold band, which according to People, he paid for himself. Sadly, Buerge dumped Eksterowicz less than two months after their televised engagement. According to The Philadelphia Inquirer, Eksterowicz auctioned the sparkler off, selling it on eBay for $28,300.
Season 3: Andrew Firestone and Jen Schefft
On Season 3, Andrew Firestone, heir to his family’s tire company fortune, asked Jen Schefft to marry him with a classic oval-cut diamond from Harry Winston set in white gold. Like Buerge and Eksterowicz before them, the pair split a few months later.
Season 6: Byron Velvick and Mary Delgado
Professional fisherman Byron Velvick gave his final rose — and a 3.5 carat, three-stone Tacori engagement ring— to Mary Delgado in the November 2004 finale of Season 6. The couple stayed together for five years before calling it quits for good in 2009.
Season 10: Andrew Baldwin and Tessa Horst
It was a long wait for another “Bachelor” engagement, with Seasons 7 through 9 ending without a proposal until dashing Naval officer Andrew Baldwin came along and presented Tessa Horst with a simple round solitaire by Chopard. The two split after less than a year together.
Season 12: Matt Grant and Shayne Lamas
Two seasons later, fans saw another proposal when Brit Matt Grant popped the question to actor Lorenzo Lamas’ daughter, Shayne Lamas. Although they broke up just a month after the show’s finale aired, the TV personality told People she still kept her 2.85-carat, three-stone Tacori diamond engagement ring “in a glass box like a glass slipper.”
Season 13: Jason Mesnick and Melissa Rycroft
Neil Lane began his era as the go-to for “Bachelor” engagement rings when Jason Mesnick proposed to Melissa Rycroft with an unusual marquise-cut diamond set sideways and accented by more than 170 smaller stones. In one of the most dramatic moments in Bachelor Nation history, Mesnick dumped Rycroft on live TV and said he still had feelings for his runner-up, Molly Malaney — and the two have been married since 2010.
Season 14: Jake Pavelka and Vienna Girardi
Season 14 saw “Bachelor” lead Jake Pavelka give a princess-cut Neil Lane diamond surrounded by a halo of diamonds to marketing rep Vienna Girardi, but once again, the reality show romance was not to last — the couple broke up a few months after their dramatic finale aired.
Season 15: Brad Womack and Emily Maynard
Brad Womack — who famously rejected both of his potential brides on the Season 11 finale — came back for a second shot at love in 2011, presenting fan favorite Emily Maynard with a cushion-cut Neil Lane ring covered in 263 diamonds. Sadly, the pair broke up while Season 15 was still airing, briefly reconciling but splitting for good the same year. Maynard would later return as the “Bachelorette” for her own season.
Season 16: Ben Flajnik and Courtney Robertson
Winemaker Ben Flajnik gave his final rose to the season’s villain, Courtney Robertson, presenting her with a 3-carat cushion-cut Neil Lane sparkler worth a reported $80,000. Like Womack and Maynard, they split while their season played out on TV but reconciled, finally breaking up in October 2012.
Season 17: Sean Lowe and Catherine Giudici
The only “Bachelor” couple that has stood the test of time is Sean Lowe and Catherine Giudici, who tied the knot on TV in 2014 following their engagement on Season 17. Lowe, who was a fan favorite on Emily Maynard’s season of “The Bachelorette,” presented Giudici with a 3-carat cushion-cut Neil Lane ring featuring plenty of diamond accents. The couple, who lives in Texas, are the proud parents of three kids.
Season 19: Chris Soules and Whitney Bischoff
Farmer Chris Soules proposed to Whitney Bischoff in Season 19, getting down on one knee with a vintage-style Neil Lane ring featuring an emerald-cut center stone surrounded by a total of 115 diamonds. Their relationship was another one that didn’t last, with the pair going their separate ways seven months after the TV proposal.
Season 20: Ben Higgins and Lauren Bushnell
“Bachelor” favorite Ben Higgins made a splash with Lauren Bushnell on the Season 20 finale with an elaborate, proposing with a 4.25-carat Art Deco-style ring — the largest in Bachelor Nation history at the time. The huge, radiant cut diamond might have been a dazzler, but their relationship eventually lost its sparkle and the two split after a year together (and starring on their own reality show).
Season 21: Nick Viall and Vanessa Grimaldi
After starring on two seasons of “The Bachelorette” and a stint in “Paradise,” Nick Viall become the lead of Season 21, eventually presenting Vanessa Grimaldi with an impressive 3.75-carat Neil Lane ring. The round-cut center stone was surrounded by 164 round and baguette-style diamonds, but the ring went back to ABC when the couple split after less than six months together.
Season 22: Arie Luyendyk Jr. and Becca Kufrin
One of the most controversial “Bachelor” engagements ever happened when Arie Luyendyk Jr. presented a 3-carat oval-shaped Neil Lane ring to Becca Kufrin on Season 22 … then later broke up with her on camera in favor of runner-up Lauren Burnham.
Season 22: Arie Luyendyk Jr. and Lauren Burnham
Luyendyk brought out a second Neil Lane ring on live TV after having a change of heart, proposing to Lauren Burnham with a 3.5-carat cushion-cut diamond surrounded by baguettes during the “After the Final Rose” show. The couple married in 2019 and welcomed a daughter later that year, adding twins to the family in 2021. That same year, he upgraded his wife, presenting her with an enormous oval diamond that he felt was more authentic.
Season 24: Peter Weber and Hannah Ann Sluss
Pilot Peter Weber was walking on air when he proposed to Hannah Ann Sluss during the March 2020 finale of “The Bachelor” with a pear-shaped 3.27-carat Neil Lane sparkler surrounded by 99 smaller diamonds — but like most other engagements from the franchise, their time together was short-lived. By the time the finale aired, the two had parted ways.
Season 1: Trista Rehn and Ryan Sutter
After coming in second place on Season 1 of “The Bachelor,” Trista Sutter was named the very first “Bachelorette.” She ended her reign on the show in 2003 with a touching proposal by firefighter Ryan Sutter, who presented her with an emerald cut diamond engagement ring by Neil Lane featuring twisted detail on the sides. Their marriage clocks in at the longest relationship from “The Bachelorette,” with the couple still together following their televised wedding.
Season 2: Meredith Phillips and Ian McKee
The second “Bachelorette” star, Meredith Phillips, received a princess-cut Tacori diamond accented with two side stones and a pavé band from suitor Ian McKee, but unfortunately, they split a year later.
Season 4: DeAnna Pappas and Jesse Csincsak
Season 3 of the show didn’t end with an engagement, but Season 4’s star DeAnna Pappas received a princess-cut Tacori engagement ring from snowboarder Jesse Csincsak in the 2008 finale. It was another Bachelor Nation relationship that wasn’t meant to be, and the pair broke up a few months after their romantic finale.
Season 5: Jillian Harris and Ed Swiderski
One of the most elaborate “Bachelorette” ring designs came from the engagement of Jillian Harris and Ed Swiderski in the 2009 season finale, with the brunette receiving a $60,000 pear-shaped Neil Lane sparkler surrounded by baguettes on either side and plenty of smaller diamonds underneath. Sadly, the couple later split after it was revealed he cheated on her.
Season 6: Ali Fedotowsky and Roberto Martinez
Fan favorite Ali Fedotowsky received an Asscher-cut Neil Lane ring on a pavé band in 2006 from baseball player Roberto Martinez. Once again, the relationship was not to last and they broke up less than a year after filming.
Season 7: Ashley Hebert and J.P. Rosenbaum
One of the show’s longest-lasting relationships began when J.P. Rosenbaum proposed to the Season 7 lead, Ashley Herbert, in 2011 with a stunning 4-carat, cushion-cut Neil Lane sparkler. The pair were married in a televised ceremony and had two children, staying together for nearly eight years before devastating Bachelor Nation with their split in 2020.
Season 8: Emily Maynard and Jef Holm
Emily Maynard became America’s sweetheart after her split from Brad Womack, becoming the Season 8 lead and finding happiness with Jef Holm. Her 2.5-carat emerald cut Neil Lane engagement ring was another one that ended up being returned to ABC, as the couple broke up just months later.
Season 9: Desiree Hartsock and Chris Siegfried
The next season finally saw another happily ever after, with Chris Siegfried presenting a cushion cut diamond set in rose gold and platinum to “Bachelorette” Desiree Hartsock. The couple married in 2015, share two sons and are still together.
Season 10: Andi Dorfman and Josh Murray
Andi Dorfman’s $72,000 Neil Lane ring from Josh Murray was one of the most expensive in “Bachelorette” history, featuring a three-carat, oval-shaped center stone. However, yet another Bachelor Nation couple didn’t make it down the aisle.
Season 11: Kaitlyn Bristowe and Shawn Booth
This 3.5-carat brilliant-cut Neil Lane diamond ring was presented to Kaitlyn Bristowe by Shawn Booth on the Season 11 finale, and while the pair remained engaged for three years, they ultimately split in 2018. Bristowe moved on off-screen with Bachelor Nation alum Jason Tartick, receiving a whopping 5-carat ring estimated at $500,000 in 2021 and are planning their wedding.
Season 12: JoJo Fletcher and Jordan Rodgers
Jordan Rogers proposed to “Bachelorette” JoJo Fletcher with a 3.5-carat oval-shaped diamond from Neil Lane worth $80,000 on Season 12 — and even proposed again with a new ring in 2019 — before the couple got married in May 2022.
Season 13: Rachel Lindsay and Bryan Abasolo
Chiropractor Bryan Abasolo popped the question to Season 13’s lead, Rachel Lindsay, with a three-carat pear-shaped diamond by Neil Lane accented with 80 round diamonds. The two are another “Bachelorette” success story, having been married since August 2019.
Season 14: Becca Kufrin and Garrett Yrigoyen
Becca Kufrin’s yellow gold, three-stone engagement ring from Garrett Yrigoyen was quite different from the typically platinum Neil Lane styles featured on the show. While the couple parted ways after a two-year engagement, Kufrin admitted that she kept the unique 3.75-carat stunner. While she’s currently engaged to Thomas Jacobs, whom she met on “Bachelor in Paradise,” it’s unclear where the older ring is now.
Season 15: Hannah Brown and Jed Wyatt
Hannah Brown’s ring went back to a more traditional “Bachelorette” style, with the reality star receiving a three-carat oval-shaped diamond in a halo setting from Jed Wyatt. Their engagement was short-lived, and the ring — which was estimated at between $45,000 and $80,000 — was returned following Wyatt’s cheating scandal.
Season 16: Clare Crawley and Dale Moss
The 16th installment of “The Bachelorette” saw not one, but two leads when Clare Crawley fell in love with Dale Moss in record time, refusing to continue dating other men. Moss popped the question with an enormous 4.5-carat radiant-cut diamond from Neil Lane, but the two split just months after. They later reunited but called it quits permanently in September 2021.
Season 16: Tayshia Adams and Zac Clark
The second “Bachelorette” of Season 16 was Tayshia Adams, who accepted a 3.25-carat emerald-cut diamond in a halo setting from suitor Zac Clark. The Neil Lane sparkler was another that wouldn’t make it down the aisle on a “Bachelorette,” as the couple split in November 2021.
Season 17: Katie Thurston and Blake Moynes
Katie Thurston gave her final rose to wildlife manager Blake Moynes during the Season 17 finale, accepting a 3-carat oval-shaped Neil Lane sparkler with a hidden halo setting. The couple broke up after a short engagement.
Season 18: Michelle Young and Nayte Olukoya
Teacher Michelle Young said yes to Nate Olukoya in Season 18, receiving a 3.2-carat pear-shaped Neil Lane ring surrounded by 46 brilliant-cut diamonds and two tapered baguettes. Sadly, the two called it quits in June 2022.
Season 19: Rachel Recchia and Tino Franco
Season 19 brought us two “Bachelorettes,” two proposals and two similar rings … although only one would last long enough for the show to air.
The first lead to receive a ring in the September 2022 finale was Rachel Recchia, who accepted a simple emerald-cut diamond on a yellow gold band from Tino Franco. The piece, which featured a hidden halo, was the first “Bachelorette” ring since Becca Kufrin’s to feature a yellow gold band. Unfortunately, Recchia returned the diamond before the final episode even aired following Franco’s cheating admission.
Season 19: Gabby Windey and Erich Schwer
Recchia’s best friend, Gabby Windey, received a very similar ring from Erich Schwer during her proposal, accepting another Neil Lane yellow gold ring with a hidden halo. Windey’s center stone is oval-shaped versus emerald-cut, with the style weighing in at 3.25 total carats, exactly the same as Recchia’s. While Windey and Schwer lasted slightly longer, like Recchia and Franco, the couple quickly split after the show.
Season 1: Marcus Grodd & Lacy Faddoul
In 2014, ABC decided to invite contestants who didn’t win “The Bachelor” or “The Bachelorette” to head to a tropical location for a new concept: “Bachelor in Paradise.” The singles are thrown onto an island with their fellow Bachelor Nation castoffs with the end goal of finding a spouse from a larger pool.
On Season 1 of the show, just one couple left engaged. Marcus Grodd proposed to Lacy Faddoul with a gorgeous princess-cut Neil Lane sparkler. The first-ever “Paradise” marriage — which was conducted on the show by then-host Chris Harrison during Season 2 — didn’t last, and actually turned out to not be legal, as it was conducted in Mexico.
Season 2: Tanner Tolbert & Jade Roper
One of the most enduring Bachelor Nation relationships came from Season 2 when Tanner Tolbert proposed to Jade Roper with an $88,000 two-carat ring with an unusual east-west center stone. The couple went on to marry in a televised 2016 wedding and are the parents of three children.
Season 3: Evan Bass & Carly Waddell
Another “Bachelor” marriage took place when Evan Bass and Carly Waddell sealed their unlikely romance with an equally quirky ring. The erectile dysfunction specialist presented Waddell with a 1.5-carat pink pear-shaped Neil Lane diamond on Season 3, and were later married by Chris Harrison in Mexico. Sadly, the couple split in 2020 after three years of marriage and two children.
Season 3: Grant Kemp & Lace Morris
Grant Kemp didn’t just give Lace Morris a blingy 1.5-carat Art Deco-style Neil Lane ring on the sands of Paradise — the couple also got matching “Grace” tattoos on the show. Unfortunately, they probably should have waited on the ink, as the pair parted ways two months after the finale aired and have since covered their respective tats.
Season 3: Josh Murray & Amanda Stanton
After his failed engagement to Andi Dorfman, Murray found love again in Mexico, proposing to Amanda Stanton with a 2.5-carat square-cut ring on a band with 235 tiny diamonds. The pair later split, with Stanton returning to “Paradise” for a second season, but eventually marrying outside of Bachelor Nation in September 2022.
Season 4: Derek Peth & Taylor Nolan
While he didn’t propose during their time on the beach, Derek Peth presented Taylor Nolan with a round Neil Lane diamond surrounded by tapered baguettes on live TV during the 2017 “Bachelor in Paradise” finale. The couple stayed together for about a year before heading their separate ways.
Season 5: Chris Randone & Krystal Nielson
Krystal Nielson accepted a pear-shaped engagement ring from Chris Randone in Season 5 of “Bachelor in Paradise,” with the style featuring a halo of 94 round diamonds. The two ended up as another couple that walked down the aisle but later divorced, parting ways less than a year after their televised wedding.
Season 5: Jordan Kimball & Jenna Cooper
Jordan Kimball was the second guy to get down on one knee in Season 5, giving Jenna Cooper a cushion-cut Neil Lane diamond ring totaling more than 1.5 carats. The two split after texts were released by Reality Steve allegedly from Jenna, claiming that their relationship was fake and she had a boyfriend all along.
Season 6: Chris Bukowski & Katie Morton
Chris Bukowski — who has made appearances on five different seasons of the franchise — seemed like he finally got his happy ending when he gave a round brilliant-cut Neil Lane ring weighing in at 2 carats to Katie Morton. The pair went through a rocky time after the show, eventually parting ways three months after the finale.
Season 6: Demi Burnett & Kristian Haggerty
Bachelor Nation’s first same-sex couple celebrated their engagement on the sands of “Paradise” in Season 6 when Demi Burnett gave Kristian Haggerty a unique 2-carat Neil Lane ring featuring an emerald cut diamond set horizontally. Later, Haggerty returned the gesture on the show’s live finale, presenting her fiancée with a 2.25-carat brilliant-cut sparkler of her own. The pair announced their breakup just over a month after the “Bachelor in Paradise” finale aired in September 2019.
Season 6: Dylan Barbour & Hannah Godwin
Dylan Barbour chose a timeless 2.5-carat total weight cushion-cut diamond by Neil Lane to pop the question to Hannah Godwin (better known as “Hannah G”) in the Season 6 finale. The couple is still engaged and in the process of planning a wedding.
Season 7: Joe Amabile & Serena Pitt
Season 7 of “Paradise” saw three couples get engaged, and fans couldn’t have been more excited for “Grocery Store Joe” Amabile, who finally got his happily-ever-after when he proposed to Serena Pitt with a cushion-cut diamond on a pavé band. The couple is a rare “Bachelor” success story, marrying in a simple courthouse ceremony on October 27, 2022 ahead of their planned September 2023 nuptials.
Season 7: Kenny Braasch & Mariela “Mari” Pepin
Next, boy band manager Kenny Braasch popped the question to Miss USA contestant Mari Pepin with a 2-carat oval-shaped diamond ring surrounded by a glittering halo. The couple is still going strong and planning two November 2023 weddings.
Season 7: Riley Christian & Maurissa Gunn
Riley Christian and Maurissa Gunn were one of the standout couples in “Paradise” during Season 7, and Christian presented his love interest with a stunning 2-carat pear-shaped diamond ring by Neil Lane during the season finale. Sadly, the couple broke up three months after the finale aired.
Though a small percentage of Bachelor Nation couples make it past “I do,” there will always be more willing to accept the final rose — and the Neil Lane sparkler.
