Former Nick star Josh Peck calls Jeanette McCurdy “incredibly brave”
Josh Peck is proud of his friend from Nickelodeon, Jeanette McCurdy, for writing her book, “I’m glad my mom died.”
“I think she’s incredibly brave to tell her story and be as honest as she is,” said “Drake & Josh” star Page Six in a recent interview.
“I think one of her great talents is her wit and how caring she is, and as soon as I got the book, I did it because I really wanted to see how she told her story.”
“ICarly” star recently published diary – as the title suggests – delves into the complicated relationship she had with her mother, who controlled her every move and forced her daughter to become a child actress. McCurdy’s mother died of cancer in 2013, when the star of “Sam & Cat” was 21 years old.
Last week, Peck has published a sweet appetizer about herself on Instagram, hugging McCurdy and labeling him: “My friend Jennette wrote the book that is coming out today. She is brave, fun and caring in many ways. Get it today! “
The actor, 35, can now be seen as the rabbi guiding the boy through his bar-mitzvah in the film “13: Musical”. The musical, which also stars Debra Messing and Rhea Perlman, is an adaptation of a successful Broadway show.
Peck’s own bar mitzvah suited someone who started performing at Caroline’s on Broadway at the age of 10.
“My bar mitzvah required me to perform for at least 45 minutes, consisting of a variety of songs, a duet with my mom and a stand-up, so I guess it’s no surprise why I’m still in therapy to this day,” he said with a laugh.
