Gavin Escobar was an American professional football player who played for five seasons in the National Football League (NFL) and one season in the Alliance of American Football (AAF).
Escobar was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft. From 2010 to 2013, Escobar was a star at San Diego State before being picked up by the Cowboys. Escobar stayed with Dallas for four more seasons, scoring eight touchdowns.
Escobar then played for the Chiefs, Browns, Ravens and Dolphins and was part of the Alliance of American Football Clubs in 2019. After retiring from his professional football career, Escobar was hired as a firefighter in Long Beach in 2022.

Gavin Louis Escobar was born on February 3rd, 1991 in New York to Harry and Erin. He actively participated in school football after falling in love with the sport. Escobar spent his entire childhood in Rancho Santa Margarita, California.
High school career
Escobar attended Santa Margarita Catholic High School in California, where he played football and basketball. In 2008, he was a Trinity League second-team offensive selection after catching 37 passes for 492 yards and six touchdowns.

College career
Escobar earned a football scholarship from San Diego State University. He was a wide receiver for the San Diego State Aztecs from 2009 to 2012. He was diagnosed with testicular cancer as a junior but went into remission after the tumor was removed.
Escobar was 5th in the Mountain West Conference in receptions (51), receiving yards (780), receiving touchdowns (7) and receiving yards per reception (15.3). In his college career, he had 122 receptions for 1,646 yards and 17 touchdowns and never missed a game.
Professional career
The Dallas Cowboys drafted him in the second round (47th overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft. He played four seasons with Dallas, totaling 30 receptions, 333 yards and eight touchdowns.
In 2017, he was recruited by the Kansas City Chiefs but was cut before the start of the season and picked up by the Baltimore Ravens, where he lasted just one month. He then joined the Cleveland Browns and Miami Dolphins in the offseason, but did not play a regular season game in any of the aforementioned sports.
His professional career ended in 2019 with a brief run with the defunct San Diego Alliance of American Football team. As of February 2022, Gavin has been a firefighter in Long Beach, California, where he is assigned to Fire Station 3 on the B-shift.
