George Clooney says marriage proposal Amal is “disaster”
George Clooney described his marriage proposal to Amal as a “disaster” after the human rights activist initially believed that the 7-carat diamond ring belonged to one of his ex-girlfriends.
“It was a disaster, I planned it, I planned it all,” said actor Drew Barrymore Friday’s episode of “The Drew Barrymore Show“.
“I have a ring in a little drawer behind her, I made dinner and we’ve only been dating for about six months.”
Actor Oceans Eleven noted that he planned for Amal, 44, to take something from the drawer – which held the ring – while playing the song “Why Shouldn’t I” by his aunt Rosemary Clooney.
However, things quickly worsened when a lawyer discovered the ring and thought it belonged to one of Clooney’s ex-girlfriends.
“He pulls that thing out, that little drawer, and there is the diamond ring,” the Oscar-winner continued, adding that Amal was mocking at the diamond’s place.
“And she looks at it and says,” Oh, there is the ring. ” As if someone left a ring there years ago. And I’m on my knee… ”He joked, rolling his eyes.
After 20 minutes of saying “Oh my God, oh my God”, she finally said “yes”.
The couple tied the knot just five months after a chaotic statement in front of their closest friends and family at a lavish ceremony in Italy.
The couple, who recently celebrated their eight-year wedding anniversary in style, have five-year-old twins Ella and Alexander – and were the first parents to make some “terrible mistakes”.
When appearing CBS mornings Last month, an A-list actor revealed that the couple’s plan to teach their kids a second language turned against them.
We made a terrible mistake, ”the actor told host Gayle King. “We taught them Italian.”
“But we don’t speak Italian. So we armed them with language they can hurt us with. And we both don’t really know what they’re saying, “he joked, adding,” I’m from Kentucky. English is my second language. “
