Gilmore Girls’ Scott Patterson says the show made him feel ‘ashamed’

Scott Patterson said that he was bothered by the filming of one particular scene Gilmore Girls.

Patterson talked about one moment while playing diner owner Luke Danes that made him feel like “some kind of meat stick,” he said on the Aug. 24 episode. I Am All In with Scott Patterson podcast.

He recalled one scene from the show’s third season in which Lorelai (Lauren Graham) and Sookie (Melissa McCarthy) discuss Luke’s (Patterson) ass while he’s fixing the furnace. Suki notes that his back is in “nice shape,” Patterson recalls.

He then shared his personal experiences of filming the scene and reflected on how “disturbing” it was for him.

“It’s infuriating because you’re being treated like an object. And it’s disturbing and it’s disgusting and I had to go through that whole scene and a lot of takes,” he said. “It was the most anxious time I’ve ever spent on a film set. I couldn’t wait for the day to be over.”
