Halsey credits Alanis Morissette for inspiration for her “best fuckers” songs.

During her performance at the Hollywood Bowl at the “We Can Survive” concert in Los Angeles on Saturday night, the singer thanked the headliner for influencing her songwriting over the years.

“[She taught me] throughout your life, how to write the best fk you songs of all time, ”explained Halsey, who uses the pronouns she / them.

“I think without her ‘fk you’ songs, I probably wouldn’t have written the biggest song of my career so far.”

Halsey, 28, began singing her 2018 hit “Without Me,” telling the audience, “It’s very Alani.”

Song – containing words like “You know I put you there /
Name in the sky / Does it ever get lonely? ” – was released after Halsey’s highly publicized breakup with G-Eazy.

‘Him & I’ associates dated for over a year before calling him his 2018 departure, amid rumors that the 33-year-old rapper ‘No Limit’ was unfaithful.

Since then, Halsey has written many other catchy “fk you” songs including “You Should Be Sad”, “Nightmare” and “Killing Boys”.

The singer chose 48-year-old Morissette for “Alanis’ Interlude” – a song representing sexual and professional empowerment – for her 2020 album “Manic”.

The two performed it together live on Saturday night during a Morissette show that also featured hits such as “Ironic”, “You Oughta Know”, “Hand in My Pocket”, “You Learn” and “Thank U”.

The ninth annual “We Can Survive” concert, organized by Audacy in collaboration with the US Suicide Prevention Foundation (AFSP), celebrated the power of music that connects people to strengthen mental health and raise awareness about suicide prevention. The evening was also graced by performances by Weezer, One Republic, Garbage and Tate McRae.

“The line-up was so cool they’re at the Hollywood Bowl and a big deal,” Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo told Page Six backstage ahead of the show why his band wanted to attend the event. “We couldn’t refuse.”

Junk singer Shirley Manson also joined in, telling us, “We’ve written a lot of songs about these kinds of topics … we’re talking about things that people don’t normally want to touch.”

She continued: “I think this is one of the reasons why we have enjoyed such a long career. I think it has made a really deep bond with the fans and the culture in a fun way. Honestly, it is a privilege to speak for those who do not have the platform we have. “

For her part, Halsey has spoken very loudly about her mental health issues over the years, both in interviews and on social media.

Last month, the singer “Bad At Love” admitted feeling “deeply sad”, telling her Instagram followers that they often wonder if they chose the “wrong” life.

“I’ve found that there is often a deep sadness within me that no dose of earthly pleasure can touch, loneliness, emptiness,” Halsey, who shares her year-old son Ender with director Alev Aydin, admitted at the time.

“I often wonder if I chose the wrong life for myself. And its weight is overwhelming. I’m sorry that melancholy has permeated my art in a way that has served no more purpose than my own self-loathing. “
