Harry, Meghan found out that the press is “not invited” to the party
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle found out they were “uninvited” from a state party for world leaders and foreign royals after reading news reports, multiple sources say Page Six.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex who they joined the royal family last week in mourning for Queen Elizabeth II in London, we received an invitation to an event to be held on Sunday night, we were told.
However, a spokesman for King Charles III confirms to Page Six that “the invitation is only for working members of the royal family.”
“Harry and Meghan did get the invitation and no one really told them they were uninvited,” the royal source tells us.
Another palace expert adds: “I was told they found out they were not invited by reading news reports.”
President Joe Biden, French President Emmanuel Macron and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau are among the heads of state set to attend a reception hosted by Charles and Queen Camilla ahead of the Queen’s funeral on Monday.
The Prince and Princess of Wales, The Royal Princess, and the Earl and Countess of Wessex will also welcome guests at the reception at Buckingham Palace.
Amid the commotion, Harry will join his brother, Prince William, and their cousins Saturday night to watch over the monarch who lies in the state of Westminster Hall. The king and his siblings were on the watch Friday night.
Throughout the week, sources close to the Sussexes insisted that the couple would do whatever they asked.
Harry – who was stripped of military titles when he and Markle resigned their royal duties in January 2020 – was prepared not to wear a uniform at any event, but upon returning from Buckingham Palace, the former army officer will wear a uniform during the Saturday vigil.
At that time, a source told us, “Prince Harry was just prepared to wear whatever his grandmother planned. The focus is on honoring her and that’s it. “
