Hilary Duff is recreating PSA’s 2008’s That’s So Gay

Hilary Duff recreated her 2008 “Think Before You Talk” PSA – which condemned the use of the phrase “that’s so gay” – in a new TikTok video.

In a clip posted on Thursday, Pentatonix member Scott Hoying and his fiancé Mark Manio take on roles that teens previously played in a viral campaign.

“It’s so gay,” Manio tells Hoying through the voiceover as the a cappella singer tries on top and asks, “Really?”

“Yes, it’s so gay,” confirms Manio.

Duff copies his original lines, then stops: “You know, you really shouldn’t be saying this.”

Hoying – still depicting a teenage girl – asks, “Say what?”

“Well, say something is gay when it’s wrong. It’s offensive, “replies the star” How I Met Your Father. “

“What if every time something went wrong, everyone was like, ‘Ugh, that’s a girl with a skirt as a top?’ … But these are cute jeans.

Duff, 34, explained in the headline of the clip why she decided to make the remake, noting: “@Scott Hoying and @ markmanio410 tying a shirt as a skirt / top made me say yes too 14 years later – it still holds up.”

Fans in the comment section praised alumni Lizzie McGuire for the impact PSA had on them years ago.

“I literally stopped talking about this reason for this ad,” wrote one user.

“HILARYYY that ad meant a lot to me,” added another.

When the Think Before You Speak campaign first launched, Duff I spoke to CNN about her decision to get involved.

“I think it’s so important,” she had said then. “We are just not nice enough to each other and there is no reason why children should go to school that would not be a safe place for them or should not be accepted.”

Duff also noted that she has “many gay friends” whom she “loves to death” and “would never want to do or say anything that would hurt their feelings.”

Recently, a mother of three spoke to the Gay Times about what the LGBTQIA + community meant to her and her career.

“I really feel like the entire gay community has supported me from the start when no one would take me seriously as a singer,” she said in January.

“So I feel I owe the community everything.”
