The English county of Cornwall

The cast and crew of House of the Dragon even set up camp in Cornwall, a ceremonial and historically significant county in south-west England, to film scenes. In fact, during the early stages of production of the first season, the production crew was spotted filming around Mount’s Bay, including Kynance Cove, and Holywell Bay in Newquay. These locations are in Cornwall. Additionally, the tidal island of St. Michael’s Mount in Mount’s Bay plays the role of Driftmark, the ancestral seat of House Velaryon in the series. Driftmark is located in Mount’s Bay.

The English county of Derbyshire

Also, the prequel production team is traveling to Derbyshire, a county in the East Midlands of England, to record some key sequences for the show. The settlement of Castleton, the Peak District, Cave Dale, Eldon Hill, and possibly Heanor Marketplace are some of the locations you can spot in the background in several of the series’ scenes.

The show’s scenes will be shot on a state-of-the-art technological facility called the V Stage, a brand new virtual production stage specifically designed for use with the show. The film studio on Warner Drive in Leavesden, Watford houses 19 stages of various sizes and two of the largest tanks in Europe. As a result, it fulfills all the criteria that any type of production can set.

Additionally, the Iron Age hill fort Caesar’s Camp features prominently as a filming location for the series. In southern England, the fort is in the region bordering the counties of Surrey and Hampshire. It is conceivable that the production of the first season was influenced by Surrey, a county in south-east England, as the county served as the setting for a significant tournament scene.
