Tottenham manager Ventrone reportedly died of leukemia, suggesting he had been ill for some time. But since we don’t know, it doesn’t matter.

Ahead of this weekend’s away game against Brighton & Hove Albion, Conte has canceled his regularly scheduled press conference.

There are more important things to take care of when a friend and collaborator like Ventrone dies.

There will surely be a celebration of his life and achievements in football ahead of Saturday’s kick-off at the AmEx Stadium.

Tottenham’s fitness coach Ventrone and Antonio Conte have been working together for a very long time.

Ventrone, sometimes referred to as ‘The Marine’ while playing for Juventus, was credited with being largely responsible for the extraordinarily high level of physical preparedness of Conte’s teams.

To see how much he pushed his players, one has only to think of the now famous training session in Seoul, which followed Tottenham’s first pre-season game in South Korea. Despite this, he was revered by those in charge and recognized as a gentle, encouraging, and kind spirit.

Recently, Son Heung-Min mentioned how his friendship with Ventrone helped him early in the season when he was struggling with his form.

Giampiero Ventrone: who was he?

Giampiero Ventrone is a certified trainer from Italy. He worked as a fitness coach for Tottenham after coaching fitness for Juventus. Between 1994 and 2004 he was a member of the Bianconeri for ten years.

Ajaccio, Catania, Jiangsu Suning, Guangzhou Evergrande and Ventrone are among the companies he has worked with.

Gian Piero Ventrone received a flood of condolences.

Ventrone completed his hat-trick against Leicester City just before the recent international break. After hugging him for a long time, Sonny complimented him like this:

Yes, he is a killer. Even though he’s a killer, Gian Piero and I get along incredibly well. As he occasionally uses his phone to translate from Italian to English, it is clear that his English is not excellent. It’s significant. While I don’t think he has as much life advice as he has when it comes to football, I’m still very grateful for that.

He always gave me a warm hug and was by my side and by the side of all the staff which was incredibly helpful. We also had a few minutes of nice chat today before leaving the hotel for the practice site, which made me incredibly grateful and relaxed.

Similar thoughts about Ventrone came from Matt Doherty, who particularly emphasized how much the players adored him even though he worked them to the point of exhaustion for fitness reasons.

“I’ve never had a preseason as difficult as this one,” I said. It’s ironic because a lot of times you don’t like a fitness trainer who pushes you to your limits, but we all love him. We follow his instructions as we respect him so much.

Career

Ventrone was born in Naples on April 14, 1960 and was nicknamed “Marine” because of his very hard and tiring training sessions. He started his career in 1994 as a sports coach for Marcello Lippi’s Juventus until 1999 and from 2001 to 2004. After finishing his Juventus experience, he worked with Lippi in preparation for the 2006 FIFA World Cup, which was won by Italy.

He stayed with Atalanta from September 2009 to January 2010. He also worked with Antonio Conte in Bari and Siena and with Fabrizio Rovanelli, a player he coached at Juventus, as an assistant coach at Ajaccio. He was a sports coach at Catania, Jiangsu and Fabio Cannavaros Guangzhou in the 2017/18 season before joining friend Conte at Tottenham Hotsupr in 2021.

His rhythms and workload blew away several athletes. Images of Harry Kane collapsing and vomiting and Son Heung-min nearly fainting and lying on the floor in agony at a pre-season in Seoul are circulating the internet.
