Netflix Sandman it wasn’t the first comic book adaptation Neil Gaiman saw, but this was the best.
Author who created Sandman of the comics on which the series is based, revealed on August 23 that he had previously turned down several movie offers in the past, but went so far as to leak one particularly bad one, written A star was born producer John Peters— to the press.
“A guy from John Peters’ office called me and said, ‘So Neil, did you get a chance to read the script we sent you?'” he recalled. Perekotifield. “And I said, ‘Well, yes. Yes, I read. It’s not just the worst Sandman scenario. It was the worst script I’ve ever been sent.”
Gaiman went on to say that he anonymously sent the script to Ain’t It Cool News, who wrote an article about “how it was the worst script they’d ever been sent.” After that, he says, Peters focused on producing the 1999s Wild Wild West. (Peters did not respond to E! News’ request for comment.)
“I’m not sure if it would be an action movie or anything,” Gaiman added. “It was a mess. It was never better than a mess.”
