How to change your name in iPhone AirDrop
- Launch the Contacts app (or open Phone and tap Contacts).
- Tap your name at the top of the list.
- Choose Edit.

- Tap your first name and then tap the x to delete what’s already there.
- Please enter your desired new first name and tap Done to save it.
- Your AirDrop name has now been changed.
- However, it only affects this iPhone and will not sync with other devices.
- When using AirDrop, it may take a few minutes for the change to be reflected on other people’s devices.
- Change your name to AirDrop on iPad. Go to settings.
- Settings are highlighted on the iPad’s home screen.
- Select General.
- Choose About.
- From the general iPad settings, tap Name with About highlighted.
- Tap the x to delete your iPad’s current name and enter the new one.
- When you’re done, press the Done key on the keyboard, the back arrow in the top left, or both.
- The new name you gave your iPad will now appear in AirDrop.
How to change your name in Mac AirDrop
- Click the Apple menu in the top-left corner of the screen, and then click System Preferences.
- System Preferences will be highlighted on the Mac screen.
- Select Share.
- Sharing is highlighted in Mac System Preferences.
- Delete your computer’s current name and replace it with the new name you want to use in the Computer Name field.

- Once you’ve decided on a name, close the window to save it.
- This new name will now appear when you use AirDrop on this Mac.
