After passing Queen Elizabeth IIThe Bank of England will print new banknotes featuring Charles, who became king after his mother’s death on September 8. For those wondering if your Queen Elizabeth notes will soon be a thing of the past, the Bank of England issued a release which details how Her Majesty will be remembered through the national currency.
The late monarch has appeared on banknotes since 1960, after the British Treasury granted permission to the Bank of England to use her portrait on currency in 1954. The Bank of England currently circulates £5 Winston Churchill£10 from Jane Austen£20 from JMW Turner and £50 s Alan Turing banknotes – soon to be joined by a portrait of Charles.
