ICU nurse Nicole Linton, who is charged in a collision in Los Angeles that killed six people, was involved in THIRTEEN previous incidents

According to various reports, the intensive care unit nurse suspected of causing an accident that killed six people, including a pregnant mother and her unborn child, has been involved in car accidents and has struggled with her mental health in the past . On Monday, August 8, Nicole Lorraine Linton, a traveling nurse from Houston, Texas, who is 37 years old, was charged with six counts of murder in connection with the August 4 accident.
According to the Daily Mail, the nurse was allegedly involved in 13 previous collisions, but she was still contracted to a hospital and allowed to drive after those collisions. When Linton allegedly ran a red light at a speed of up to 90 miles per hour just after 1:30 p.m., prosecutors say she was driving. According to the allegations, she collided with at least six cars. Asherey Ryan, who was 23 years old and pregnant at the time of the accident, her son Alonzo, who was 11 months old, and her boyfriend Reynold Lester, who was 24, all died in the collision. There were apparently two other women who were killed, but their names were not released. They were occupants of another vehicle. Five other people were evaluated and treated for non-life-threatening injuries before being released. Six counts of murder have been filed against the suspect in connection with the deaths of four people, an 11-month-old child and an unborn child. Ryan’s unborn child is not included in the five counts of involuntary manslaughter by vehicle against the defendant.
Linton served as a contractor at Kaiser Permanente West Los Angeles Hospital while in the City of Los Angeles. AMN Healthcare, a care provider organization, which she joined in October 2020 and where she worked as a nurse. According to her LinkedIn page, Linton worked as a sales director for General Motors until 2009. She left her position in 2009. Although she didn’t graduate from NYU’s nursing program until 2015, she began working in the healthcare industry in 2010 as an “external.” As of Tuesday, August 9, AMN Healthcare did not provide an immediate response to inquiries about Linton’s qualifications.
On Tuesday, the California Highway Patrol, which is investigating the accident, decided not to release information about Linton’s previous driver’s license. On Monday, Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascón followed suit and declined to answer reporters’ questions about the suspect’s driving history, citing the ongoing investigation. According to the New York Post, he was quoted as saying, “We’re not addressing that here.”
On Aug. 8, Linton’s attorney told the court that her client had a “deep” history of mental health issues elsewhere. He claimed they contributed to the collision and asked that their charges be postponed until the month of October. She had no drugs or alcohol in her system, and it is unknown what motivated her to drive through the intersection on a red light. According to a Daily Mail story, the publication has received crash records from two events involving Linton in the state of Texas, one in 2013 and one in 2016. It’s still not clear why Linton was able to be there work in healthcare, let alone in the intensive care unit (ICU), despite significant mental health issues, as described by their attorney.
When she was charged with six counts of murder, Linton wept openly in the courtroom. The Los Angeles Times quoted George Gascón as saying that Linton could face life in prison if found guilty on all charges.
