Chennai, Sep 21 (IANS) The India Meteorological Division (IMD) has expected light to scattered rains in some parts of Tamil Nadu, including the waterfront regions and regions ending in the Western Ghats.

The IMD also expects most parts of the state to experience suppressed climate as the South West Rainstorm has weakened over the state. Meteorologists have stated that there is no particular pattern that will trigger heavy rainfall in the state.

The breeze, as indicated by the IMD, is located towards the low pressure region along the Odisha-West Bengal coastal border and the northwest Inlet of Bengal. This, according to the climate division authorities, has triggered a weak cyclone in Tamil Nadu throughout the week.

The state capital Chennai is likely to experience thunderstorms and lightening for the next two days and there is a possibility of light directed rain over the city.

The IMD said weather condition stations at Nungambakkam and Meenambakkam recorded a limit of nearly 34 degrees Celsius. Climate division authorities said that the variation in the speed of the westerly wind has prompted limited showers in some parts of the state.

Uniquely Thoothukudi recorded a maximum temperature of 38.4 degrees Celsius which is four degrees above normal while Karur Paramathi recorded 35.8 degrees Celsius which is three degrees above normal.
