Page Six can confirm that a man was recently arrested for trying to break into Will Smith’s Los Angeles mansion.
A spokesperson for the Malibu/Lost Hill Sheriff’s Office told Page Six on Tuesday that police received a call from a suspicious person on the afternoon of May 1 at approximately 4:06 p.m. Pacific time.
We’re told officers were first told the suspect was near Smith’s residence, but then received a second call telling officers the same person had arrived at the movie star’s property.
According to TMZduring the ordeal, Smith’s security intervened, arresting the man before he could actually get into the “Men in Black” star’s home.
The suspect – identified as 37-year-old Robert Ogden – was arrested for trespassing.
According to information available online, he faces misdemeanor charges. The description states that he is a black male who weighs 218 pounds, is 6 feet tall, is bald and has brown eyes.
A public information officer confirms to Page Six that the suspect is no longer in custody as of Tuesday afternoon. Online records also list Ogden’s release date as May 3.
Page Six reached out to Smith’s representatives for comment but did not immediately hear back. The Fresh Prince of Bel Air alum has not addressed the incident on social media.
Smith was reportedly not home at the time of the break-in, and a police spokesman confirms that it “does not appear” that anyone was injured as that information is not detailed in the report.
The Smith family has unfortunately been the victim of other home burglaries in the past.
In 2015, it was a woman named Ariel Archer charged with trespassing and sentenced to three years probation after trespassing on the property of Smith and wife Jada Pinkett Smith.
According to reports, the famous family’s housekeeper found the woman in the kitchen and called the police.
Home burglaries appear to be on the rise in Los Angeles. Many celebrities have been targeted, including Valerie Bertinelli, John Mayer, and most recently Netflix star Farrah Aldjufrie.
The “Buying Beverly Hills” star, the eldest daughter of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Kyle Richards, was robbed of luxury items in her home in broad daylight.
