Jane’s husband Andy and her daughter Eleanor asked that we share some heartbreaking news with our larger network and alumni. On Saturday, August 27, Jane Steele, our deputy headteacher, passed away unexpectedly. Our prayers are with his family, who are understandably struggling to come to terms with their tragedy.
Pure Denmark Road is Jane. a mentor, role model, beloved colleague, and reliable friend. Without Jane to share it, our world would be less enjoyable.
We all stand by each other and put Andy and Eleanor’s needs and wants first. Although the loss was great, it paled in comparison to the happiness Jane brought. She was the best of us, a wonderful wife, mother, friend, and valued employee, in the words of Andy and Eleanor. His actions are always selfless. He dedicated his life to being there for others.

Jane was the head teacher at Newent Community School from 2006 to 2013, a period which I personally attended from Year 10 until leaving the sixth form, despite the fact that I never attended Denmark Road. He always maintains a good reputation and constantly strives to serve the needs of the students there, no matter what. His absence will be deeply felt.
As Liv Millman says:
It’s really sad because he was such a sweet and kind person. Even if you’re not in his class, he’ll make you feel welcome and offer help when needed. She will be sadly missed, and I’m extending my love to her family, as well as to all the current and former students of DRHS.

As Lauren T said,
It hurts to read this. Mrs. Steele is the best and most inspirational instructor, encouraging even those like me who are not naturally gifted in math. Mrs. always does. Steele that learning is fun and he tries to see the best in everyone, so I was not afraid of the class. I will never forget how sweet and funny he was. The wonderful observations she made in my yearbook are something I will treasure. During this tragic time, our thoughts are with his wife, children, and relatives.
As Florrie Cole said,
