Janelle Brown’s first Mother’s Day after son Garrison’s death was ‘surprisingly emotional’
Janelle Brown spoke candidly about how “emotional” she was on Mother’s Day following the death of her son Garrison Brown.
“Mother’s Day was surprisingly emotional for me” – the star of “Sister Wives”. he wrote on Instagram Monday. “It was just never a big celebration for me. My children have always supported me and made me feel special every day [sic].
“Especially since they became independent adults and weren’t home all the time. But this year was different. I felt sadness so close to the surface all weekend long. ”
Janelle (55) shared a photo of a strawberry and rhubarb cake with fans, explaining the special meaning of this particular dessert.
“Strawberry rhubarb is our favorite treat in our house, and I don’t think anyone loved it more than Garrison. And that made this cake a little bittersweet [sic]– she shared.
Finally, she added, “I love you, baby, and I miss you every day.”
The TLC star’s sentimental post was met with numerous comments of support from her online community.
“I am so sorry for the loss of Janelle’s son. I hope the cake made you feel closer to him and reminded you of the good things too. ❤️,” one person wrote.
“I’m sure Garrison was with you in spirit when you did this ❤️,” another added.
Autopsy report obtained by People On May 15, it was confirmed that Garrison had died from a gunshot wound to the head. His manner of death was ruled a suicide.
The 25-year-old was found dead with a gun in his hand in his home in Flagstaff, Arizona, by his brother, Gabriel Brown, on March 5.
Before her death, Janelle was concerned for her son’s well-being after he sent a message to his family that read: “I want to hate you for sharing the good times. But I can not. I miss these days.”
Janelle reportedly told police that Garrison had not spoken to her dad, Kody Brown, for some time before his death.
He was buried on March 9.
Janelle and Kody, who split in 2022 after nearly three decades of marriage, previously said in a statement that their son’s death “will leave such a big void in their lives [their] is alive.
