On September 21st, Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, a highly anticipated crime drama series, will finally be available to stream on Netflix. It tells the horrific true story of one of the United States’ most prominent serial killers, Jeffrey Dahmer, as well as the gruesome murders he committed between 1978 and 1991. After more than a decade, Jeffrey Dahmer was eventually arrested and arrested for his crimes. He was found guilty of 16 counts of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison for each count, but was later beaten to death by a fellow inmate. But what about Dahmer’s loved ones? Where can we find David Dahmer, his brother? Is he still with us today? We spoke about the current whereabouts of Dahmer’s family in 2022.

Jeffrey Dahmer had what can be described as a difficult upbringing. Because his parents had such ongoing marital problems, Dahmer was left with a sense of abandonment and isolation. His mother, Joyce, struggled with bouts of depression, while his father, Lionel Dahmer, left home for a significant part of his life. Even a teacher at Dahmer’s elementary school observed how much he had changed over the years. The signals of abandonment began to appear in his demeanor. The following year, 1966, Joyce gave birth to David Dahmer, Dahmer’s younger brother. He was even allowed to choose the name for him, but when Dahmer realized that her parents loved her older brother and paid more attention to him than him, their relationship took a decidedly negative turn.

After his parents’ marriage dissolved, Dahmer made the decision to live with his father while his mother and younger brother moved to Wisconsin to be closer to his mother’s family. A relatively short time later, Dahmer committed his first gruesome murder.

The lives of Dahmer’s family members were irrevocably changed after he was found guilty of murdering 17 young men and boys and dismembering their bodies. They were constantly harassed, and some family members even moved away to end the past incident. Where is Jeffrey Dahmer’s family at this point?

What happened to Jeffrey Dahmer’s father?

Lionel Dahmer and his new wife Shari regularly visited Jeffrey Dahmer while he served his time in prison. Jeffrey Dahmer died in 1994. Lionel even wrote a book called A Father’s Story, in which he describes his perspective on Jeffrey’s life and what it was like to be the father of a notorious serial killer. In this book, Lionel offers his version of Jeffrey’s story. After some research it seems that in 2022 Lionel Dahmer is still around. However, it is not known for sure.

In an interview that Lionel gave to People in 1994, Lionel reportedly mentioned how Jeffrey’s grandmother was afraid to leave her home because she was constantly being harassed by the reporters who sat outside her house. Because of the horrific atrocities committed by Jeffrey, his grandmother was forced to live the rest of her life in constant fear until her death in 1992.

What happened to Joyce Flint?

According to a report published in the Los Angeles Times, Joyce relocated to Fresno, California, shortly before Jeffrey Dahmer was taken into custody by authorities. Before taking on her role as a case manager for the Central Valley AIDS team, she served as senior community leader at that location. She remained active in HIV and AIDS care until her death in 2000. According to an interview Joyce gave to Hard Copy, Joyce kept in touch with Jeffrey weekly while he was behind bars by calling him on Sunday nights. Joyce also mentioned that she had visited Jeffrey at least once while he was incarcerated.

What happened to David Dahmer?

After David Dahmer graduated from the University of Cincinnati, he assumed a new identity, changed his name, and disappeared. Since then, neither his whereabouts nor his name are known. David has completely distanced himself from his older brother and his terrible deeds and he has not participated in any interview about his brother. In 2022, it is unknown if David is still alive.

DAHMER – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story offers a new perspective on the Jeffrey Dahmer case by retelling the events of the case from Dahmer’s point of view. The book shows how Dahmer evaded capture on numerous occasions due to the racial bias of law enforcement officers. In 1991, a 14-year-old Laotian boy fled Jeffrey Dahmer’s home, but police returned the terrified child to Dahmer after he claimed they were a couple who had gotten into an argument. This is just one example of how the police didn’t do their job properly. After killing the youth, Dahmer injured his body in a variety of ways. After being found guilty, he declared, “I made my dream life more powerful than my real life.” He was sentenced to sixteen consecutive life terms in prison for his crimes.
