Jennifer Lawrence roasts Mike Pence at the GLAAD Media Awards
Jennifer Lawrence made several lewd and vulgar comments about former Vice President Mike Pence at the GLAAD Media Awards on Saturday, sending shivers down the spine of the audience.
The star delivered a vulgar, irreverent speech while honoring country musician Orville Peck with the Vito Russo Award.
The “Hunger Games” star said she “loved seeing so many people who are able to surpass themselves and at the same time lose their power. Not to mention I’m in a room with so many men and I don’t need one[ing] Mace.”
She continued that she “loves” the gay community, adding that her “first love” was a “homosexual” whom she had tried to “convert” for years. “But now I know that conversion therapy doesn’t work,” the Oscar winner explained. “Did you hear me, Mike Pence?”
Then, to the delight of the audience, Lawrence it still stuck Down half. GOP. “Conversion therapy is not real. Even if you think it worked for you,” she said of the former Indiana governor.
She added a below-the-belt joke: “Did you know he’s in New York tonight? Wins the Kids’ Choice Award for the weirdest d–k.
(We’re not even sure what that means, but we reached out to Rep. Pence for comment on Lawrence’s speech.)
Pence, who has been married to Karen since 1985 previously criticized by LGBTQ activists for supporting conversion therapy and opposing gay marriage.
In 2017 approx 200 protesters with glow stickshula hoops and rainbow flags organized a “Queer Dance Party” in front of his residence.
As governor of Indiana, Pence also reportedly supported the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, which has been criticized as anti-LGBTQ legislation.
HBO’s John Oliver did this too previously aimed at Pencewith a parody about his bunny.
Anyway, Lawrence started talking about her friendship with Peck, whom she met at a party. “After exchanging numbers and texting live on Housewives, we soon took it to the next level,” she said.
Jennifer Hudson, Uma Thurman and Don Lemon were also at the gala.
