Jennifer Lopez’s Las Vegas residence is in danger
Jennifer Lopez’s $90 million Las Vegas residency deal has fallen apart.
Source he told The Post. on Tuesday, the Bronx-born artist was scheduled to sign a contract for a series of shows at the MGM Grand, but weak concert ticket sales and album sales could impact the deal.
An insider claims Lopez will receive $1 million to perform in 90 concerts in 2025 if the deal goes through.
“MGM is watching him not do well on the road. They are very upset,” said a source close to the situation. “It’s rare that you have a bad tour and then go to Vegas.”
The source also opined that the “Let’s Get Loud” singer should simply be paid between $600,000 and $650,000 for her Sin City residency and be scheduled for fewer appearances.
Another source claimed that no deal was ever officially signed with MGM, but talks “continued.”
This wouldn’t be Lopez’s first Vegas residency, as she had a successful stint with Planet Hollywood in 2016.
Page Six reached out to both her and MGM Grand representatives for comment but did not immediately hear back.
Lopez, 54, is currently in rehearsals to prepare for her next gig, the “This Is Me…Live” greatest hits tour, which kicks off in June.
In April, the name of the US tour was mysteriously changed. The song was initially titled “This Is Me…Now” after Lopez’s latest album, in which she sang about her journey to renewed love with Ben Affleck.
Since then, there have been reports that the couple has been having problems, but sources last month did not indicate that this had a bearing on Lopez’s tour name change.
“The latest rebranding suggests a shift from a tour focused on songs from the new album to one spanning her discography, which could attract listeners who haven’t connected with her latest material,” Variety reported at the time.
Back in March, the “Love Don’t Cost a Thing” singer also raised eyebrows when she and her band decided to cancel seven shows on their August 20-31 tour in Cleveland, Nashville, Raleigh, North Carolina. Atlanta, Tampa, Florida and New Orleans respectively – no explanation required.
Her ninth studio album as well made a disastrous debut on the Billboard 200 at number 38.
Earlier this year, Lopez suggested this maybe he’s moving away from music actually soon.
“The truth is, I don’t even know if I’ll ever make another album after this,” the “Jenny From the Block” singer told “Entertainment Tonight” in February.
About her latest album, she added: “It’s the quintessential Jennifer Lopez J.Lo project and I really feel very fulfilled, so at some point these will really become collectors’ items.”
