Sarah Hyland enjoys keeping him in a (modern) family.

The actress finally hooked up with Wells Adams at a magnificent wedding ceremony at a California vineyard last week chaired by none other than her partner “Modern Family,” Jesse Tyler Ferguson.

However, Ferguson – who played on the series Mitchell Pritchett, the uncle of Hyland’s character – revealed that he wasn’t actually Hyland’s first choice to celebrate her wedding.

During the screening of his Netflix film “Ivy + Bean,” the 46-year-old actor revealed that he had replaced his fellow Modern Family teammate Ty Burrell – who plays Hyland’s father on the blockbuster series, as the host.

Burrell, 55, was originally scheduled to conduct the ceremony, but was forced to retire days before the big day due to a family emergency.

Ultimately he couldn’t attend.

“I don’t know if people know about it, but Ty Burrell was supposed to do it and there was a family emergency,” said Ferguson ET.

“So I got a call 12 days before the wedding and that’s why you weren’t there, had something going on.”

Other Hyland stars from the Modern Family, including Sofia Vergara, Julie Bowen, Nolan Gould and Ariel Winter, attended the big event.

“Everyone was invited and not everyone could do it, but I was 12 days old and I thought,” Well, no pressure, it’s my first time and then it will be a wedding and it will be at Vogue and there will also be some paparazzi photos from the helicopter while on duty, no pressure, “he said in the newspaper.

The actor said Burrell graciously gave him a few “ball points” on what to say at the ceremony.

“He didn’t write anything, but he had some ideas, and I thought,“ Oh, it’s all really good. It’s a springboard, Ferguson added.

Hyland and Adams finally tied the knot over three years after Adams asked the question. They were originally supposed to say yes in August 2020, but were forced to postpone the wedding twice due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
