Jewel performed for Dolly Parton at Jeff Bezos’ house
Jewel paid a moving tribute to Dolly Parton at a reception at Jeff Bezos’ home in Washington.
The ‘Who Will Save Your Soul’ singer serenaded the guests with ‘four or five’ songs and recently surprised Inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Parton, singing his 1974 classic “Jolene”.
“She was just there singing with her guitar and talking about how Dolly inspired her as a singer/songwriter. It was just beautiful. Everyone was emotional,” a Page Six source told us.
The head of Amazon and the owner of the Washington Post hosted a party to celebrate the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery’s seven “Portait of a Nation” honors this year. Jewel, who is close friends with Bezos and his “caring” partner Lauren Sanchez, volunteered to sing.
Among the guests were Hillary Clinton, Ron Howard and Barry Diller, and Diane von Furstenberg.
Parton donned a “cute little costume” and “everyone wanted to meet her.” “Everyone congratulated her,” our informant reports.
Another source told us the Honorable Clive Davis told her how upcoming biography of Whitney Houston will use the iconic version of “I Will Always Love You” by Houston’s Parton.
Davis was heard to say, “all I can say is that she occupies a very important place in the film, a place that reminds us all of how talented dear Whitney was and proud to have recorded this great song.”
The event was prepared by Jose Andres, honored at the gala.
