Johnny Depp’s lawyer rejects Kanye West on the grounds of anti-Semitism
Johnny Depp’s attorney – who helped lead him to victory in his defamation trial against Amber Heard – reportedly stopped working with Kanye West because of his anti-Semitic statements.
Camille Vasquez informed her company Brown Rudnick that she did not want to represent the billionaire rapper less than a week after he hired her, TMZ reported on Monday.
Sources said that despite being a respected lawyer, her law firm was still open to working with West, 45, should he withdraw his testimony.
However, CEO of Yeezy refused to back down, saying at an impromptu press conference ahead of his daughter North’s basketball game Friday night: “I want to talk about the Jewish commentary, in fact, I have proved exactly what I did.
“It will take all of us to meet. We have to know the truth before we get love, if not, we just love lies. “
Just days earlier, West had issued a half apology for “Piers Morgan Uncensored” saying “sorry for the people I have hurt by defcon [comment] – the confusion I caused. I feel I have caused hurt and confusion. “
Brown Rudnick was reportedly fired after holding rapper Power on the condition that he should apologize.
A representative from Vasquez and the company did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
According to TMZ, the Los Angeles lawyer was supposed to represent the West in its business affairs, handling contracts and other transactions.
The fashion mogul’s partnership was hanging in the balance, with Balenciaga officially breaking off relations with him last week, and Adidas also came under intense pressure to do so.
West recently boasted in an interview with Drink Champs: “I can say anti-Semitic things and Adidas can’t ditch me. What now? What now?”
The apparel company said earlier this month that its deal with the West was “under review,” but has yet to make an official decision.
