Kanye West joins forces with David Carmen as he moves and shakes the Beltway
We should just stop being surprised by anything in the Kanye West saga.
Earlier this month we reported that friends and insiders believe that – in the middle of a psychiatric episode – West had fired most of his inner circle and wanted to replace them with political experts, in part to prepare his next candidacy for the White House.
Now, Page Six has learned that after six weeks of talks, it intends to work with Beltway veteran David Carmen, who founded the Carmen Group lobbying firm in 1985.
What’s shocking, given West’s recent anti-Semitic rants and his sticking of the phrase “White Lives Matter” to his haute clothing designs, is that Carmen is not some sort of extremist. Rather, he’s sort of like a blue chip moving and shaking the Capitol.
According to the Carmen Group website and various press reports, the company has represented such movie giants as the movie giant Lionsgate, the city of New York, the government of Algeria, the now defunct telephone company Sprint and the University of Chicago, among others.
Carmen is not even a rightist and claims to be a non-party activist.
He also claims to have advised “Presidents, governors, mayors and lawmakers on political issues where creativity is essential for government to better respond to urgent priority.”
A source told Page Six of Carmen joining Kanye: “I have no idea why he would like to do this, but in fact he seems very interested.”
We were told that the consultant was spotted with West and right-wing commentator Candace Owens in her hometown of Nashville, Tennessee, when West flew in for the premiere of Owens’ new documentary on October 12.
We hear the couple have been in touch since they were introduced, but seem to be on the same page and are getting ready to go to work.
Earlier this month, West seemed to announce his second offer in the White House, posting a picture of a baseball cap labeled “2024” on the roundabout. He also ran in 2020.
Carmen did not respond to our request for comment.
