Katie Couric is inspired by her daughters after being diagnosed with breast cancer

Three days after announcing her breast cancer diagnosis, the journalist dubbed herself the “Queen of the Screen” and took to social media to urge women to get annual mammograms.

“I was six months late and was shocked to find out I had stage 1A breast cancer.” – she shared on Instagram October 1, the first day of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. “Early detection is critical to a favorable outcome.”

Along with an important message, 65-year-old Katie shared a photo with her daughters Ellie31 and Carolina26, and called on her followers to help spread the word that screening can save lives.

“Share a photo with whoever or whatever inspires you to put your health first and share it on social media using the hashtag #IScreenYouScreen,” she continued, “Here are my two reasons.”

She also exclaimed Kristin Chenoweth and Elaine Welteroth asking them to “opt in” and participate.
