“So when my chest radiologist Susan Drosman said, “Can you turn off your phone?” I thought, “Oh, what does that mean?” And she said, “I think we really need a biopsy, and I want to do it today.” So I thought, ‘Oh my God, you’ve got to be kidding me.’

Couric said her doctor called the next day to say her biopsy results showed cancer. “I was very stunned,” she added. “And I think those words, ‘this is cancer’ or ‘you have cancer,’ stop you in your tracks. But she told me it could be cured, we just needed a plan. So I went from feeling shocked to feeling shocked to relieved.”
