Kevin Conroy, famous for voicing Batman on many TV shows, died at the age of 66.

The death of the star was confirmed Friday by Diane Pershing, the voice actress who has worked alongside Conroy on numerous projects.

“Very sad news: our beloved Batman voice, Kevin Conroy, died yesterday,” she wrote Facebook post. “He’s been sick for a while, but he really put a lot of time on the counter to the delight of all his fans. He will be sorely missed not only by the cast of the series, but also a legion of fans around the world.

Pershing did not disclose the cause of death.

Conroy began voicing Batman / Bruce Wayne on Batman: The Animated Series, which aired from 1992 to 1995. His distinctive, rugged voice soon became synonymous with the cartoon characters he used in various other projects over the next two decades.

Conroy’s final project was the 2019 animated film “Justice League Versus Deadly Five”, produced by Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment.
