King Charles could ‘easily’ meet Prince Harry: source
According to well-placed sources, King Charles could “easily” find time to meet Prince Harry during his stay in London.
Harry (39) is in London ahead of the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games.
Page Six can reveal Harry tried for over a month to arrange a meeting with his cancer-stricken dad but was turned down.
However, on Tuesday, Harry’s representative confirmed that his father was too busy to meet with him.
However, Hugo Vickers, a renowned royal historian and friend of the royal family, told Page Six: “If the king wanted to meet Harry, he would very easily make the time. You can never be too busy to see your son.
“It’s a good idea if they actually get together to make some kind of reconciliation.”
Vickers said there would be certain points in the king’s diary where he could describe his youngest son, including breakfast.
“The king left the door wide open, but obviously not that wide,” a royal source said about a possible reconciliation. “But they can certainly stuff things into his diary and juggle things.”
Harry – who is in London without his wife Meghan Markle – last saw Charles in February, after he made his way from California to the UK after his father was diagnosed with cancer.
They had a short meeting that only lasted about 30 minutes.
A senior royal source told us: “We don’t know how the meeting went, but I know the King was exhausted from the chemotherapy and was really looking forward to going to Balmoral.
“He desperately wanted to be on his way and was delayed until Harry showed up.”
We revealed how Harry invited his family, including estranged brother Prince William and sister-in-law Kate Middleton, to the Invictus ceremony at St. Patrick’s Cathedral. Paul on Wednesday, but no members of the royal family attended the service.
In a statement on Tuesday, Harry’s representative said the father and son would not be able to meet due to His Majesty’s full schedule, adding: “The Prince obviously understands his father’s diary of commitments and various other priorities and hopes he will be able to see him soon.
The king’s busy schedule includes weekly audiences with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, as well as his first garden party of the season at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday.
Harry, who flew to London on Monday evening after celebrating his son Archie’s fifth birthday, is expected to give a lecture at London’s St. Patrick’s Cathedral on Wednesday. Paul, commemorating a decade since the inaugural Invictus Games were held in the capital.
As Page Six previously reported, Harry and William haven’t spoken to each other in over a year.
“William is a throne jumper with a sick wife and three young children – he’s got a lot on his plate,” a royal source said on why William won’t be attending this week’s Invictus event.
