Kourtney Kardashian details ‘traumatic’ fetal surgery

Kourtney Kardashian has described the “trauma” of emergency fetal surgery for the first time.

The reality star opened up about her experience during Thursday’s season 5 premiere of “The Kardashians,” which she filmed while she was 31 weeks pregnant.

“We scheduled an at-home ultrasound so all the kids could see the baby,” she said in a confessional, noting that her husband, Travis Barker, was “about to go on tour” with his band Blink-182.

When the “high-risk doctor who looks very carefully and thoroughly for everything” performed the examination, “something caught his attention.”

The doctor sent Kardashian, 45, “to several specialists,” which resulted in her “horrific” surgery.

She didn’t detail the specific problem, but described it as a “very rare condition,” explaining that her doctor said it was “not age-related” and the future star “didn’t do anything wrong.”

Because the little one was operated on in utero, the Poosh creator remained on strict bed rest for the rest of her pregnancy.

“There is a hole in the amniotic sac where they had to enter,” she explained. “I’m not allowed to drive. I’m not allowed to stand for more than 20 minutes. I really won’t leave the house.”

Meanwhile, Kardashian’s hospital stay made headlines when Barker, 48, left the European leg of the tour to support his wife.

“His Wi-Fi broke down on the plane, so he couldn’t get updates the whole time,” the Hulu personality recalled on the show. “He couldn’t get anything. He checked every two hours.

The drummer blamed his absence in September 2023 on a “family emergency,” and Kardashian waited two months to reveal the reason for his hospitalization via Instagram.

Her followers were “so grateful that she shared” her horror publicly, Kardashian told viewers.

“Many people don’t feel comfortable even telling their friends or family members because they wonder if they’ve done something wrong,” she said.
